Saturday, August 23rd, 2008 from 12pm to 3pm: Aquarium Artwork Debut Party

Our entryway has been transformed into an underwater paradise with artwork created for us by local artist Chrissy Stanley of Chapel Hill. On Saturday, August 23rd, please join us to celebrate with games, contests, snacks, and fun for all.  We can think of no better way to say good-bye to summer than to have a party!

About the Artist

Christine Stanley grew up in Roanoke, Virginia. As a child, she was always flittering about creating one thing after another; so she was affectionately nicknamed “Chrissybird” by her family. Christine developed a fondness and talent for drawing and painting in high school and later earned a Fine Arts Degree in illustration from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA.

Throughout Christine's artistic career, she has enjoyed rewarding opportunities as a head floral designer, freelance artist, textile designer/illustrator, and creative director for a nationally distributed ceramics company. After taking time off to raise a family, Christine found that mural painting, floorcloth and furniture design, as well as creative painting melded wonderfully with her illustration background and fed her interest in home-improvement and interior design.

Christine loves to tackle new and interesting artistic challenges, and enjoys creating fun and unique experiences with her artwork. She takes great delight in rolling up her sleeves and delving into various kinds of design and construction projects. “Chrissybird” moved to Chapel Hill two years ago with her husband Charles and three small children: Henry 8, Matilda 6, and Oliver 4.

Drawing Contest information

Age groups are:

All drawings must be submitted to Chapel Hill Children’s Clinic no later than Wednesday, August 20th 2008 at 6:30pm, with name and contact information included. All drawings must be on 8.5” x11” paper.

A drawing from each category will be named our winner. Winners will receive a prize and their drawing will be framed and hung on our waiting room wall.

Must be present to win. Winners will be announced at 2pm on Saturday, August 23rd, 2008.

"Name That Fish" Contest Information

Submit your name suggestions for our fish at the event on Saturday, August 23rd, 2008. The names will be voted on by patients in the office during the next week and winners will be announced on our website and contacted by phone to receive their prizes. Winning fish names will be posted on the Aquarium page of our website with pictures of their fish.
