Welcome to Chapel Hill Children’s Clinic!Whether you are new to our practice, or have been here for years, we would like to take this opportunity to introduce you to our staff. Most of our providers remain the same. Dr. Margaret Morris, Dr. Michael Minozzi, Dr. Laura Windham, and Patricia Muir, our Pediatric Nurse Practitioner are all still in full swing! There have been a few changes over the past few months we would like to make you aware of! Dr. Eva Schaff and Dr. Elizabeth Meine have both left the practice and have moved out of the state. Although we miss them both very dearly, we have welcomed a new doctor to our staff. Dr. Shelley Houston started with us here at CHCC in July 2005. She is a wonderful addition to our team and we hope you all get a chance to meet her! Maria Mekeel, Alta Bury, Maria Susann, Caren Moody, Janelle Bierenga and Patty Beck are our nurses who are always available to give advice to our parents either over the phone or in person. Rebekah Vogelpohl, a UNC School of Nursing student, is here to help out the nursing staff and gain valuable experience in nursing. Christine Norman, Julia Lebetkin, Gina Lacava, and Jordan Caswell, our front office staff, will make your appointments, take your messages and help you in any way they can. Lu Troxler handles our insurance filing and billing and can help you with questions you may have with either of these areas. Susan Paradis manages our office and handles insurance, billing, office or general questions. Telephone TipsWe encourage you to call our office with any medical questions you may have during regular business hours or to schedule an appointment. Our phones are answered Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:30 am and 5:00pm. Although there may not always be a nurse available to take your call immediately, our nursing staff makes their best effort to call you back the same business day. We request 24 hours for all prescription refills. When calling our office for a refill, we will need the following information: child’s name and date of birth, name and dosage of prescription, and pharmacy name and phone number. Unfortunately we cannot call in ADD/ADHD medications to your pharmacy for you. These prescriptions must be picked up at our office. If you are calling after-hours, we use the services provided by UNC HealthLink. HealthLink provides after-hours nurse advice and triage calls. If you are having an after-hours emergency requiring medical assistance from one of our doctors, they can be paged through the UNC HealthLink system. Our Doctors are on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year! What have we been up to?Recently our Head Nurse, Maria Mekeel, went on a trip down to Mississippi to donate the many items collected at our Hurricane Katrina tractor trailer. Our 55 foot tractor trailer was parked at Carrboro Plaza for almost two months! During this time it was staffed with volunteers and our wonderful community donated enough items to fill the tractor trailer twice!! During her trip she visited 7 sites from Slidell, LA to Biloxi, MS donating her time and medical skills. "The original concept behind the tractor trailer was a way for our children and families to feel like they could have a direct impact and to help heal after the devastation that was Hurricane Katrina. Many of our families who donated had their children hand-pick their donations and come to the truck to help organize and sort the items. The clinic was able to provide our local high school students with community service hours for their time and assistance. Thank you for all your time and effort!" - Maria Mekeel RemindersWell Child Checks : Don’t forget to schedule your child’s Well Child Checks in advance.
